This choir brings together 150 of the most advanced students in our music education program. These youth, ages ten to eighteen, make a serious time and energy commitment to learn and produce quality music that invites the Spirit of the Lord. The youth meet early each Saturday morning to refine their talent and commitment, and to prepare for bi-monthly performances. In addition to thirteen+ professional recordings, the Concert Choir has toured Great Britain, the Eastern and Western United States, parts of Canada and Mexico, to bear witness of Christ through music.
COMMITMENTS
Being a member of the Concert Choir requires a serious commitment from both the members and their parents. We have outlined these commitments below. Please note that when you join Concert Choir, you are committing to participate for the entire year and to go on tour.
Summer Choir
New Concert Choir members attend Summer Choir for one week in June and one week in August. They will pass off the music they learn at the end of the summer. The cost is to join is $125 which includes the cost of your sheet music. We recognize that families have scheduled vacations and other obligations during the summer, so we understand if you need to miss some of the summer choir. You can learn your music and practice on your own; however, the cost is the same even if you don’t attend all of the summer choir.
Regular Rehearsals
During the school year, Concert Choir rehearses every Saturday morning from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. at the Chillon Reception Center (710 East Center Street, Spanish Fork). In preparation for recording or special events, we may hold extra rehearsals. Roll will be taken at every rehearsal. Choir members may be excused from two rehearsals each semester.
Make-ups & New Member Rehearsals
For the first (school) year, new Concert Choir members are also expected to attend rehearsals on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month from 3:45 - 5:00 p.m. at the Chillon. After the first year, Concert Choir members should attend this class if they have to miss regular Saturday rehearsal.
Other Responsibilities
- Prepare for and attend every Choir performance
- Go on tour with the Choir each summer
